For the past week I have been continuing to build my tribe up, going through my ritual of; mixing the colours, applying Vaseline, painting myself, photographing, scraping off the paint, and cleaning myself. This has resulted in five new tribe members, but the main development of the week has been the integration of pattern into my backgrounds. At the beginning of this residency I was thinking about patterns and how I could incorporate them into my Tribe, as I thought it would give some unification to the pieces and add a tribal feel.

I photograph the act of painting on to my skin and then paint on top of the photographs, creating a layering of image of paint and painted image. My body becomes the canvas for the paint, questioning the traditional concept of painting and portraiture, and the barriers between painting and photography.
